The Best Video Editing Apps For Reels

Instagram’s head Adam Mosseri has said that they are putting a much bigger focus on video features going forward, specifically reels.

That’s why I believe that making and producing reels should be one of your top priorities when it comes to making content for Instagram.

However, as a creative digital agency, we’ve found that Instagram’s in-app editing tool (and Canva’s) isn’t enough to rival some of the leading video apps on the market.

So, my team and I went on a mission to find the best and easiest-to-use video editing apps for reels, to save you the hassle of testing them all out.

VLLO

If you’ve never used a video editing app before, then this app is for you!

It’s very easy to use and includes a great onboarding tutorial so you can get started straight away. The free app includes some really great features but you will need to upgrade for more transition options, which was slightly disappointing.

CAPCUT

It takes a bit more patience to get to know this app as its navigation can be a bit confusing. However, there are lots of free features and we really love the number of transitions available.

It also allows you to edit the covers just as easily as you might in Canva. Plus the auto-caption feature is so useful and free!

SPLICE

For any business looking to make reels professionally, then Splice is the one. It is a paid app but the quality and features are definitely worth it.

My one qualm would be that you have a limited choice of fonts and colours (you can’t access a colour wheel), which makes getting that perfectly branded look more tricky.

IN-SHOT

We’d heard a lot about this app before we tried it, as so many people are in love it! Personally, we feel that it isn’t as user-friendly as the others. The transitions are great and we like the music options but the layout can be confusing.

To use most of the features this app requires a subscription.

I hope you’ve found this useful and that this helps you find the best video editing apps for your reels. If you do need more help, feel free to message us on Instagram and we will gladly answer any questions.

I wish you luck on your journey to making more beautiful reels!
